While I've read the Uptown Update blog with some interest - and thinks its a relatively good snapshot of Uptown - I'm concerned about how obviously
biased it is.
Couple of quick points
1) It's written by the same group that supports and constitutes the UNC - and the anti-Wilson Yard set
2) To these folks nothing about Wilson Yard including the Target, the retail, and the two mid to low income buildings is good for Uptown. The overall position of the blog seems to be that either leaving Wilson Yard as an empty hole, or with construction incomplete - would actually be good for Uptown
3) The blog provides free ad space for every Nicks Uptown fund raiser to support the anti-Wilson Yard lawyers. Plus links to provide contributions. You'd think the legal case was a slam dunk if you read the blog versus a waste of time and money. Can you imagine the city of Chicago writing off over $ 50 million of tax-payers money by ending construction which is in progress ?
4) The blog actively censors all comments which might oppose or present a differing Point of View on the blog's comments section - so as to seem that every reader agrees with its statements made by the blog.
Finally since the blog is widely read, espouses a particular POV and represents an organization namely the UNC, I don't see why it is so upset with requests that its owners/writers identify themselves. After all its not particularly democaratic.
Hola from California ...will be in Uptown for Easter and check in on the Wilson Yard construction whcih I hear is going great ! Go Uptown !
