It's truly amazing that with the decline in real estate and retail - she has managed to get major TIF investments into Uptown. And the Wilson Yard project
is moving way ahead of schedule. So much for all the Nay Sayers on this Board who kept trying to hold it back - or say there would never be a Target there.
They have all been proven wrong ! Plus additional TIF money will now be spent on a Fish Farm....way to go Helen ! Some timelines to Note
1) Senior Housing in January 2010 for struggling seniors ( above 65)
2) Family Housing in February 2010 for working folks like Profs and teachers at Truman College
3) Target....Spring 2010....
Great job Helen - your perseverance has enabled Uptown to turn around what was a dirty, abandoned, polluted and burnt out railway year - frequented by hookers, druggies, and drunks - into a complex featured in the New York Times as an example of stylish urban construction.
What do the critics have to say to that ? Lets face it Targets here, the housing is almost ready ! Next stop - Fish Farm.
Oh I'm sure there is another online petition about and a law-suit that was thrown out of court ! So much for all the collections at Nicks Uptown !
Oh how I miss Uptown
With fondest regards,
Tanya Lawler
